Banaras Hindu University was established in 1916 and is one of the most popular and prestigious universities in India. It is not only recognized by the UGC but also has been accredited by the NAAC with an ‘A’ grade. As per the NIRF ranking 2024, BHU has been ranked #5 in the ‘University’ category.
Banaras Hindu University has signed MoUs with over 40 national and foreign universities while offering more than 350 courses for UG, PG, and PhD students across several specializations. The most popular courses at the university are MBA, BA (Hons), BA LLB, BTech, and B.Sc.
BHU takes admissions based on the performance in entrance exams such as CUET-UG and CUET-PG which are conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). the university also provides merit-based and need-based scholarships to students across different categories.
The minimum cutoff score for admissions to UG courses like BA (Hons) English, BA (Hons) Economics, BCOM (Hons), BSC (Hons), Mathematics, and BSc (Chemistry) are 170+, 170+, 220+, 160+, and 160+, respectively. The 2024 cutoffs for BHU PG courses also went up to MSc (220-243), MA Hindi Studies (218), MCA (192), and B.Ed Science (184).
When it’s to faculty members, BHU has a student-to-teacher ratio of 18:1 and offers student-faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, seminars, etc.
BHU has a great placement record as they place their students through their BHU placement cell. The highest on-campus package at the university during the 2023 placement drive was INR 38 LPA at the BHU School of Management and INR 1 Cr LPA in the Engineering branch. Admissions
