Government Jamuna Prasad Verma Post Graduate Arts and Commerce College, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, traces its roots to S.B.R. College, established in 1944 to provide education to socially and economically disadvantaged students in Bilaspur and nearby villages. The institution was taken over by the Government of Madhya Pradesh on January 26, 1972. In 1986, the Arts and Commerce faculties were separated, leading to the formation of Government P.G. College, Bilaspur. To honor Shri Jamuna Prasad Verma, a renowned social worker in the region, the Government of Chhattisgarh later appended his name to the college. Currently, the college is affiliated with Atal Bihari Vajpayee University, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh.
