Admissions

Admission to Malda College is based on merit. Candidates applying for admission must secure the passing marks including English at the Higher Secondary(WBBSE) or any 10+2 equivalent examination. Out of 39191 candidates in 2024, the seat offered was around 3000 across all departments. 

Application is available through both online and offline mode. The registration usually starts around June each year. Malda College offers courses(fees)for Bachelor degree in Arts, Science and Commerce streams and arts(English, History, Bengali) for master degrees.

With the valid certification of 10+2, admission to UG courses are based on the marks scored in the same examination. The College has 22 departments in the UG level which are English, Bengali, Arabic, Sanskrit, History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Philosophy, Education for the Arts stream. Computer science, Physics, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Geography for the science stream and a commerce department for both general and honours degree.

Candidates wishing to apply must score more than 45% aggregate and 40% and 50% aggregate in the subject they opted for honours.It is also mandatory for the candidates to have passed the examination with 50% in English. There is also a 5% relaxation mark for ST/SC candidates. The fee structures differ from course to course.

Malda College started offering postgraduate courses for MA programmes in English, Bengali and History from 2014. To be a qualified candidate, one must have to graduate from a recognised board or university with a 10+2+3 system or equivalent. The total seats offered are 195.
